Use

You can activate the Service Data Control Center centrally from the SAP Solution Manager. If you use the SAP Solution Manager system, you can activate the Service Data Control Center for each individual system or for several systems in your landscape at once. The Service Data Control Center will only need to be activated once after it has been installed.

Requirements

You have:

  • the installed license key
  • installed the current version of the ST-PI Add-on (ST-PI 2005_1_ or higher)
  • created the required RFC destinations for the SAP Solution Manager system (NONE).

Activities

  1. Choose Environment → Solution Manager Operations → Administration SDCCN.
You go to a dialog box in which the connected systems and their status are shown.
When you first call the transaction, there may be no systems. Systems which can be activated are flagged with the symbol Activate. Active systems are flagged with the symbol Execute in the Call SDCCN column.
  1. To put a system in the overview, choose Insert. All systems must be displayed.
  2. To activate the Service Data Control Center, click on the Activate symbol.
  3. To connect this system to the SAP Support Portal, choose Yes, otherwise No. We recommend Yes. This connection must be in the Solution Manager system. When the SAP Solution Data Manager is active, the Execute symbol is displayed.
  4. To call the Service Data Control Center, click on Execute.
For further information, choose the Information symbol. The dialog box Help is displayed.

Result

If you have activated the Service Data Control Center, the following activities have been performed in the satellite system. You can check this in the satellite system task log:

  • If you were using the "old" SDCC, the background job AUTO_SESSION_MANAGER (ASM) is descheduled.
  • Customizing is checked.
  • The following two tasks are created:
  • Maintenance Package Task

The maintenance package task collects services automatically. It comprises the following steps:
- Refresh service definition
- Refresh services of all maintained systems
- Delete old services and log data
The maintenance package task must be scheduled periodically.
  • Service Preparation Check (RTCCTOOL)

The service preparation check should be scheduled periodically, to get updates from the TCC service tools regularly. These tools are used for service delivery.
  • The task processor (job: /BDL/TASK_PROCESSOR) is activated.
This job checks whether tasks are to be processed. Schedule it hourly.
  • You are prompted to create the RFC connection SDCC_OSS as a copy of SAPOSS.
The Service Data Control Center uses this connection to communicate with the SAP Support Portal.
  • The old SDCC is locked.
