In this activity, you create a trust relationship between SAP Solution Manager and IBM Rational SAP Connector. To do so, a self-signed certificate from the IBM Rational SAP Connector must be imported in SAP Solution Manager. A new trusted system is thus announced to the NetWeaver system.

For the integration, user IDs for end users are required in both systems.

SAP Solution Manager must be set up for WS Security Authentication as per Note 1319507.

Define the SAML 2.0 service provider as follows:

  1. Start the SAML 2.0 configuration interface.
If the system has not been configured for SAML 2.0 yet, the following message appears:

Client <client_number> is not configured to support SAML 2.0.

  1. Choose Enable SAML 2.0 Support.
  2. Enter the name of the new provider. You can use a name of your choice.
  3. Let the wizard guide you through the steps and enter the required information.
The procedure covers only the activation of SAML 2.0. With the activation, you can configure service binding using the service provider, trust an identity provider, configure identity federations, and protect resources with SAML. The configuration generates a new Personal Security Environment (PSE) file for the new service provider.
  1. Choose End.

Execute the following step for the new SAML 2.0 service provider:

  1. Go to the Trusted Providers tab.
  2. Choose Security Token Services from the drop-down list.
  3. Choose Add/manually.
  4. Let the wizard guide you through the steps.
  • Choose a name that represents the individual IBM Rational SAP Connector system
  • In the Signature and Encryption step,choose Browse → Upload from File.
  • Enter the complete path for the certificate that was previously exported on the IBM Rational SAP Connector system.
  1. Do NOT enter an end point in the next step.
  2. Choose End.
