To be able to set-up availability monitoring, you must install the CCMSPING Agent.

You have set-up Central CCMS .

To start the agent with push, you need a user. Use the communication user CSMREG (see Create User CSMREG).

  1. Logon to the SAP Service Marketplace software center with your SAP user name and ID, under http://service.sap.com/swdc .
  2. Choose Download → Support Packages and Patches → Entry by Application Group → SAP NetWeaver → SAP NETWEAVER → SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 → Entry by Component → Application Server ABAP → SAP KERNEL 7.00 32/64-BIT → → Database Independent.
Note: CCMSPING is non-unicode; you can use it independently of the Unicode status of CEN and the monitored systems.
  1. The archive CCMAGENT.SAR is in the directory. Download the file.
  2. Decompress the archive with SAPCAR. See SAP note 212876. By default, decompress with:
sapcar -xvf
You can install CCMSPING on any host in your IT environment, you do not have to install the agent on a host with an SAP system. If you want to monitor a lot of systems (>100), do not install the agent on a host on which an SAP system is running, use several CCMSPINGs in parallel for your availability monitoring.
  1. Ensure under Windows that a share with the name saploc is released in the host; by default, it is the directory [drive]:\usr\sap, and that the directory \\host\saploc\prfclog exists.
  2. Copy the start file CSMCONF, which you have created (see Create Start File CSMCONF for CCMS Agent), into the CCMSPING work directory. The work directory is:
  • Windows: [drive]:\usr\sap\prfclog\CCMSPING_\ccmsping

  • Unix: /usr/sap/tmp/CCMSPING_/ccmsping

If the directory does not exist, create it; is the instance number of CCMSPING, whose default value is 00.
  1. Install CCMSPING with:
ccmsping –R -push
Note: To install several CCMSPING agents on a host, give them different instance numbers, with -n .
  1. During registration, you are prompted to confirm the details from the file CSMCONF, with ENTER. You only need to enter the password for the user CSMREG.

Note: CCMSPING is not started automatically in UNIX platforms. Start it with ccmsping -DCCMS. You must also ensure that CCMSPING is automatically started after a server restart (e.g. by putting the start call in INITTAB).

If you deregister and reregister CCMSPING, you must restart the system for the reregistration to be effective.
