In this IMG activity, you define and change the proficiency scales that are used to define the qualification groups and qualifications in the qualifications catalog.

NOTE: If business partner (SAP CRM)/employee (SAP R/3 HR) integration is active, the scales must be maintained in the SAP R/3 HR component and transferred into the CRM system.

Each scale is defined using a unique numerical indicator and a scale name. In addition, proficiencies defining the possible rating grades must be specified for each scale.

Quantity Scales are not relevant in SAP CRM and cannot be used in the qualifications catalog. Therefore you should only define Quality Scales. You must define and name each individual proficiency for a Quality Scale. A maximum of 9999 rating grades are available, and you can add any proficiency text you require to each one.

Scales that are already used in resource planning in CRM should not be changed, since this could cause data inconsistencies. If you would like to edit an existing scale, create a new scale instead.

Note: The proficiency 0 for the rating of qualifications and requirements is not supported in SAP CRM. Do not allocate the ID '0' to any of the proficiencies.

Proficiencies can be established for each element of a quality scale by entering a free text description. These proficiency descriptions are passed on as defaults for each element in the qualifications catalog and appraisals catalog that is linked to the scale. The individual descriptions for each element can be overwritten.

It is recommended that you do not define more than 20 proficiencies per scale since the more proficiencies a scale has, the less meaningful it becomes.

Create at least one proficiency for each quality scale. The proficiency is defined using a unique numerical indicator and a descriptive text. To ensure that the percentage of suitability can be calculated correctly, you must define the proficiencies for all scales in ascending order. This means that the proficiencies must be created with the highest value in the ID field corresponding to the highest/best qualification proficiency (see examples).

1. Choose Edit→New Entries on the Change View "Scale": Overview screen. The New Entries: Overview of Added Entries screen appears.
