When you enter a business transaction for an integrated asset acquisition, a down payment to an asset, and an integrated asset retirement, the system splits the business transaction into an operational part and a valuating part.

• For the operative part, the system posts a document that is valid for all accounting principles. From a technical perspective, the system generates a ledger-group-independent document.

• For each valuating part, the system generates a separate document this is valid only for the given accounting principle. That means that there is a separate document for each accounting principle. From a technical perspective, the system generates ledger-group-specific documents for each accounting principle.

If document splitting is activated, the system cannot always pass on the document type of the entry view to the valuating documents. The reason for this is that the document type can be defined so that items are designated as required, but they only exist in the operational document, not in the valuating document.

There is another reason why you might need to use different document types: Your organization might require that the valuating documents are posted with a different document type to the operational documents.

In this activity, you can specify alternative document types for accounting-principle-specific documents of Asset Accounting.

You have created a document type for the operational documents. If document splitting is activated, the document type needs to be defined accordingly.

Enter the document types of the entry view for the relevant business transactions (integrated asset acquisition, down payment to asset, and integrated asset retirement), and enter the alternative document type of the accounting-principle-specific document of Asset Accounting.
