TMC_0015 - Define Search Context

In this Customizing activity, you specify the following for all search models (Embedded Search templates) for Talent Management:

• The search object connectors

You make these settings in the Administration Cockpit of Embedded Search.

• The periodic indexing of data that represents a search model

You make these settings in the Administration Cockpit of Embedded Search.

The search models are selected in the administration cockpit via the software component. After a search model is selected, you can make the necessary settings by choosing Action -> Schedule Indexing.

During periodic indexing, delta indexing is performed for the search object connectors.

Note

The search object HRTMC_AUTHORITY_VIEW is an exception. In this object, the structural authorizations are indexed for all users that are assigned to an area of responsibility as talent management specialists. Due to the complexity of the structural authorization check, when changes are made to the database, change pointers cannot be written automatically. Therefore, you have the following options for the search object HRTMC_AUTHORITY_VIEW:

• In the standard SAP system, full indexing is automatically performed for this object during periodic indexing.

Recommendation

Considering the runtime for full indexing, you should schedule this regularly for a period in which no search requests need to be executed (for example, every evening).

• If you want to use delta indexing for the search object HRTMC_AUTHORITY_VIEW, proceed as follows:

1. In the Customizing activity BAdI: Activate Delta Indexing for Authorization Data, activate the BAdI implementation HRTMC_AUTHORITY_VIEW_DELTA. For more information, see BAdI: Activate Delta Indexing for Authorization Data.
2. Schedule the report Create Change Pointer for Authorization Data (RPTMC_CREATE_CHANGEPOINT_AUTH) regularly to create change pointers. For more information, see Create Change Pointer for Authorization Data.

The restriction of authorization indexing to talent management specialists means that only talent management specialists that are assigned to an area of responsibility via relationship 741 can use the search.

To be able to access the administration cockpit, you need an administration user ID with the role SAP_ESH_ADMIN.

For Talent Management, the standard search model is under software component EA-HRGXX. For the search in Talent Management, all search models whose name starts with HRTMC_ are relevant. The search object connectors and periodic indexing are not created for these search models.

Specify the search object connectors and the periodic indexing of data for all Talent Management search models.
