You only need to perform this Customizing activity if you have modeled your own search requests in the Embedded Search, or if you have added your own nodes or fields to the standard search requests.

In this Customizing activity you provide the complete mapping between the field names in the Embedded Search and the technical search field names in Talent Management for each search request. The search field name is required for defining search configurations in Talent Management to give the names generated for fields of a search request and search result in Embedded Search modeling the same name.

Assigning the search field names to the database fields determines the related field label from the ABAP Dictionary (DDIC). This field label is used as a column header in the search results.

The DDIC Label indicator decides whether the field label from the DDIC or the identifier from the Search Field Description field is used as the label of a search field in the search template.

For each search field name, specify which authorization object is used for the authorization check by entering the infotype and, if required, the object type. The settings specify whether this field is available to a user for selection in the search template and in the search results. The PLOG authorization object is used for the authorization check for Personnel Administration infotypes, and the P_ORGIN authorization object is used for the authorization check for Personnel Planning infotypes.

The customer nodes and fields that you want to include in an advanced standard search request and your customer search requests have been modeled in Embedded Search.

  • If you have modeled a new search request, you must communicate this to Talent Management by adding a new entry to the Request folder. In the Search Fields folder, you then define a corresponding Talent-Management-specific search field name and specify its attributes for each node of this search request.
  • If you have added additional (your own) nodes to an existing search request, you must define a corresponding Talent-Management-specific search field name and specify its attributes for each of these nodes.
  • If you want to use a different label in the search template for a standard search field of a search request, copy the corresponding standard search field to the customer namespace and enter the label in the Search Field Description field.
Then make sure that the DDIC Label indicator is not set.
Also make sure that you use this search field in your search configurations instead of the standard search field.
