In this Customizing activity, you can define the search configurations. You use a search configuration to specify which fields from an Embedded Search search request are to be used for a particular search in Talent Management, and how these fields are to be arranged in the search template and in the search results list.

To arrange the fields in the search template, in the Search Field Groups view you can define your own groups for search fields for each search configuration. For each search field group, you specify the label and the sequence in the search template. Within the search template, the search field group label is used as the group header.

In the Search Field view, you can assign the search field groups to the individual search fields and specify the sequence of the fields within a search field group. If a search field is not indicated as a search field, the system assigns this field the position 0 in the sequence of a search field group.

If no search field group is assigned to a search field, it is displayed below the last search field group, provided it is indicated as a search field. If there is more than one field not assigned to a search field group, these fields are displayed below the last search field group in ascending order of their selection positions.

If you have not defined any search field groups, all search fields are displayed in ascending order of their selection positions in the search template.

Assigning fields to search field groups only affects the search template and not the search result.

For each field, independently of its use as a search field, you can specify whether it is to be displayed in the search results. You can also specify the sequence of the field in the search results. If a field is not indicated as a results field, the system assigns this field the position 0 in the sequence of the search results.

A search configuration always refers to exactly one search request of a search model that was modeled in the Embedded Search. In the Assign Search Configurations Customizing activity, you can assign your own search configurations to Talent Management searches.

  • Define your own search configurations by copying a search configuration provided by SAP and making changes to the copy.
  • If required, define your own search field groups for your search configuration and assign these search field groups to the search fields.
