TMC_0068 - Create Qualification Categories

In this Customizing activity, you create qualification categories to which you then assign qualifications. The categories are used for the following purposes:

• In the Define Templates for Talent Assessment Customizing activity, you can create a template for assessing competencies. In this Customizing activity, you can create a Core Competencies qualification category and then assign qualifications to it. You can then make the qualifications in this qualification category available to the manager for selection when he or she uses the corresponding template to assess the competencies of a talent.

• In the overview of the detailed talent profile, you can also use a Core Competencies category. Since only a restricted number of rows are available for each category in the overview, only an extract of the total qualifications that are defined for the talent is displayed.

If you create a Core Competencies qualification category and then assign qualifications to it in this Customizing activity, you can specify a sequence for the qualifications. This sequence specifies which competencies are displayed for the Core Competencies category in the overview of the talent profile.

• During Succession Planning, the talent management specialist can also select from the qualifications that you group with the qualification categories.

The standard system comprises some qualification categories that are in the SAP namespace S*. For customer qualification categories, use the customer namespace 0* to 9*, as well as A* to R* and T* to Z*.

If you want to use a template for assessing competencies or a corresponding category in the overview of the talent profile, you need corresponding qualification categories. If this is not the case, or if you want to use the standard qualification categories, you do not need to make any settings in this Customizing activity.
