SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you define the applications (links to reports, transactions, URLs, and so on) for the Launchpad (ABAP) service that are to be available for the role Talent Management Specialist in SAP NetWeaver Portal or SAP NetWeaver Business Client in the Reports application.

If you use the portal role Talent Management Specialist, you need to implement the Business Package for Common Parts.

In the standard SAP system, the Reports application provides the talent management specialist with predefined BI queries for Succession Planning and for talent development, for example. All necessary entries (folder structure, required details for the applications, in this case the BI Query application category, technical name, and system alias SAP_BI for BI queries 7.x) are already contained in the standard SAP system.

You can create your own applications directly under the existing folders as required. Or you can subdivide the launchpad further by creating additional folders. The folders serve as headers for the links to the applications.

To create an additional folder, choose the folder under which you want to create the new folder. Choose New Folder. Enter a text for the new folder and choose Enter. The folder is inserted under the selected folder.

To create applications, select the folder under which you want to create the applications and choose New Application. Select the Application Type. Depending on this selection, further input fields are displayed, with which you can set or select the application's parameters.

If you want to enter a description to be displayed in the portal under the link, choose Editor for the Description.

If the application type selection results in the System Alias field being displayed, you need to enter a system alias.

The Inactive Applications folder serves to collect the applications that are available, but are not to be displayed. These applications are displayed in the application Reports in a table that users can see if they change the launchpad settings.

For more information about the launchpad, see SAP NetWeaver Library in the documentation for the Floorplan Manager for Web Dynpro ABAP under Launchpad.

For more information about the launchpad in the portal, see SAP Library for SAP ERP in the documentation for the Business Package for Common Parts under Launchpad (ABAP).
