In this Customizing activity, you specify whether you want to use the simple or extended user interface in Talent Management for the search:

  • Simple user interface
The simple search for talents by name and personnel number is displayed for the talent management specialist. The user can navigate to the extended search, which comprises a flat list of search criteria. The search criteria are structured by the search field groups that you create in the Define Search Configurations Customizing activity.
  • Extended user interface
There is no subdivision into a simple and extended search. A user interface is displayed for the talent management specialist on which he or she has the search criteria that you defined in the Define Search Configurations for Enhanced User Interface Customizing activity directly available as search fields.
The extended user interface also comprises the following search functions:
  • Using operators such as Is, Starts With

  • Linking multiple search criteria using and or or relationships

  • Using combinations of search criteria such as the qualification English with the proficiency Very Good and the qualification French with the proficiency Basic Knowledge

If you have activated the extended user interface for the search, you can also specify whether you want to use the simple or extended results list of the search:

  • Simple results list
A static list of the talents found is displayed for the talent management specialist. The list comprises columns with the fields that you specify as relevant for the results list in the Define Search Configurations Customizing activity. The talent management specialist cannot personalize the simple results list.
Depending on where the talent management specialist calls the search, he or she can perform further actions from the results list, for example, compare talents or display a talent's development plan.
  • Extended results list
A personalizable list of the talents found is displayed for the user. The list initially comprises columns with the fields that you define as default columns in the Define Search Configurations for Enhanced User Interface Customizing activity. You can also define a column set with additional columns that the talent management specialist can show as required. He or she can save the personalized list as a view and reuse it.
Depending on where the talent management specialist calls the search, he or she can perform further actions from the results list, for example, compare talents, display a talent's development plan, or create a talent album (a PDF document containing the talent profiles for the selected talents).

In the standard SAP system, the extended user interface and the extended results list are used for the search.
