In this Customizing activity, you can define the various parameters like the heel level, document consumption, the simulation and inventory calculation mode and the actual quantity for nomination items to be considered for the inventory planning workbench.

The Heel quantity is the unused inventory in a tank. You can assign one of the constraints influencing the heel quantity. Further the heel parameters can be maintained at the TSW Location/Material in Inventory tab in transaction O401 (create), O402 (change)or using Create/Change Business LocationVH tile.

The influence of heel in inventory calculation is determined from the user specific settings maintained in the Inventory Planning Workbench (IPW) app, under User settings -> General tab -> Select Subtract Heel from Inventory.

  • IPW Simulation mode
You can specify the following modes in which the simulation can be performed:
  • User Specific Simulations - In this mode, the simulations you perform can be saved as a user specific simulation and into different versions.

  • Global Simulations - In this mode, the simulations you perform can be saved as global simulation that can be viewed by others as well but cannot be saved into different versions.

  • Both Global and User Specific Simulations- In this mode, the simulations you perform can be saved as both user specific and global simulation and into different versions.

  • Quantity to be considered for Rundown Inventory Calculation
You can specify either Bulk Forecast Quantity or Document Quantity for Rundown Inventory calculation.
Example:
The current date is D. There is a Nomination issue line (NOM2 / 10) on the current date for 1500 TO. There is an actualized ticket on the current date for 100 TO. There is a Sales Contract DOC1 created for date (D – 2) for 2000 TO.
The Nomination NOM2 references and therefore consumes part of the Sales Contract DOC1. Hence the quantity 1500 TO is called off and the remaining open quantity on the contract is 500 TO. The Bulk Forecast quantity of 1000 TO is maintained from today to the future. Bulk Forecast Consumption is implemented for this.
As per the settings, consumption is enabled as follows:
Backward consumption Forward consumption Forecast horizon
1 2 0

When Bulk Forecast is selected as relevant for the inventory projection
Date Begin Inventory   End Inventory   Nomination No.   Item   Scheduled Qty   Actual Qty   Unactualized Qty   Bulk Forecast   Bulk Forecast after consumption   Document No.   Document Qty Issues
D – 3 10000   10000
D – 2 10000   10000                 DOC1   500
D – 1 10000   10000
Present day (D) 10000   8500   NOM2   10   -1500   -100 - 900   1000   0
D + 1 8500   8000             1000   500
D + 2 8000   7000             1000   1000
D + 3 7000   6000             1000   1000

When Document Quantity is selected as relevant for inventory projection
Date Begin Inventory   End Inventory   Nomination No.   Item   Scheduled Qty   Actual Qty   Unactualized Qty   Bulk Forecast   Bulk Forecast after consumption   Document No.   Document Qty Issues
D – 3 10000   10000
D – 2 10000   9500                 DOC1   500
D – 1 9500   9500
Present day (D) 9500   8000   NOM2   10   -1500   -100 - 900   1000   0
D + 1 8000   8000             1000   500
D + 2 8000   8000             1000   1000
D + 3 8000   8000             1000   1000

  • IPW Inventory Calculation Modes
You can specify if the actual quantity or the unactualized quantity is considered when the physical inventory is calculated when any of the following calculation mode is selected:
  • Actualized Quantity on scheduled date and Unactualized Quantity on the current date

This mode of inventory calculation displays the total Actual Quantity for a nomination line item on the scheduled date that is, the Actual Quantity affects the rundown inventory calculation on the scheduled date of the nomination. All the Unactualized Quantity is added to the End Inventory column on the current day.
Example:
If the present date is D. There is a nomination line (NOM1 – item 10) on the date (D – 2) for a quantity of 1000 TO. And a ticket actualization on the date (D – 1) for a quantity of 100 TO.
This example is represented as follows in this calculation mode:
Date   Begin Inventory   End Inventory   Nomination No.   Item   Scheduled Qty   Actual Qty   Unactualized Qty   UoM
D – 3   10000   10000
D – 2   10000   10100   NOM1   10   1000   100   900   TO
D – 1   10100   10100             TO
Present day (D)   10100   11000             TO
D + 1   11000   11000             TO
D + 2   11000   11000             TO

Note: Although the ticket actualization was on D-1 date, it is shown in the row of D-2 date and added to the end physical inventory of D-2 date. The unactualized quantity is added to the current date ‘D’ end physical inventory.
  • Actualized Quantity on ticket date and Unactualized Quantity on the Scheduled date

This mode of inventory calculation displays the Actual Quantity for a nomination line item on the Ticket End date that is, the Actual Quantity affects the rundown inventory calculation on the ticket end date. All the Unactualized Quantity is added to the End Inventory column on the scheduled date of a nomination line item.
Example:
If the present day is D. There is a nomination line (NOM1 – 10) on the day (D – 2) for a quantity of 1000 TO. And a ticket actualization on the day (D – 1) for a quantity of 100 TO.
This example is represented as follows in this calculation mode:
Date   Begin Inventory   End Inventory   Nomination No.   Item   Scheduled Qty   Actual Qty   Unactualized Qty   UoM
D – 3   10000   10000             TO
D – 2   10000   10900   NOM1   10   1000     900   TO
D – 1   10900   11000         100     TO
Present day (D)   11000   11000             TO
D + 1   11000   11000             TO
D + 2   11000   11000             TO

  • Actualized Quantity on Ticket date and Unactualized Quantity on the current date

This mode of inventory calculation displays the actualized (ticketed) quantity of a nomination item that is considered in the inventory projection calculation on the ticket end date. The unactualized (open) quantity for items scheduled in the past is considered on the current date that is, it will impact the ending inventory key figures on the current date.
The purpose of this setting is that ticketed items must impact the projection calculation on the ticket date, but it is unlikely that tickets received for open quantities for the past, so the earliest open quantities must be considered for is the current date.
This calculation mode corresponds to the calculation mode implemented in Stock Projection Worksheet (SPW).
D – 3   10000   10000             TO
D – 2   10000   10000   NOM1   10   1000     900   TO
D – 1   10000   10100         100     TO
Present day (D)   10100   11000             TO
D + 1   11000   11000             TO
D + 2   11000   11000             TO

  • Scheduled Quantity on Scheduled date

This mode of inventory calculation will only use the Scheduled Quantity for inventory calculation. The Scheduled Quantity of a nomination line item impacts the inventory on the scheduled date of the nomination line item.
D – 3   10000   10000             TO
D – 2   10000   11000   NOM1   10   1000   100   900   TO
D – 1   11000   11000             TO
Present day (D)   11000   11000             TO
D + 1   11000   11000             TO
D + 2   11000   11000             TO

Note: If either of the settings are used which results in a unactualized quantity being considered on the scheduled date (2nd and 4th options) , the result is overridden if a physical inventory reading is entered between the scheduled date and today, as the physical inventory takes priority.
