Specify the posting relevance of update types.

In this step, you specify whether update types are relevant to posting. This setting can be made specifically per valuation area. In this way, you can decide to post an update type in one valuation area but not in another.

Note:

If you flag an update type as not relevant to posting, it is not posted - even if an account determination was specified.

You have already defined the update types.

  1. Select New Entries.
  2. Choose an update type.
  3. You have the following input options:
    1. If the update type is relevant only for making postings to one (or more) selected valuation area(s), assign the valuation area(s) and set the indicator (in each case) to Relevant to Posting.
    2. If the update type is relevant to posting in all valuation areas, do not assign any valuation area to the update type and only set the Relevant to Posting indicator.
    3. If the update type is not relevant to posting in one (or few) valuation areas, define an entry first, indicating that this update type is relevant to posting in all valuation areas (see 3b). Define an additional entry for the valuation area(s) in which the update type is not relevant to posting by assigning each valuation area to the update type and by not setting the Relevant to Posting indicator.
  4. Save your entries.

Note:

The system reads these tables by checking first whether valuation-area-dependent entries exist. If entries do exist, the update type is posted to these valuation areas - or not, as the case may be. The system then searches for an entry that is relevant for all valuation areas and for which the update type is relevant to posting. If such an entry exists, the update type is posted in accordance with the specified account determination in all valuation areas (without conflicting entries).

If an entry is not found in this table, or no entry exists for which the update type is relevant to posting, the update type is not posted.
