In this Customizing activity, you define tax box structures to classify your tax transactions into relevant categories and display the corresponding data in the UAE VAT Declarationreport output in correct sections.

For correct reporting of tax documents, you need to maintain customizing for all the relevant document types and tax codes that need to be considered for UAE VAT Declaration, otherwise this could result in the UAE VAT Declaration not containing all relevant documents or may even be empty.

Before you start configuring tax box structures, ensure that the following activities are done.

  • Maintain tax codes
  • Check tax procedure
  • Check transaction keys
  • Maintain document types

Refer to SAP Note 2456119- VAT Baseline Package for United Arab Emirates. It describes the standard configurations for VAT in the United Arab Emirates Version. It is a template that provides instructions on configuring tax codes and tax procedure for VAT. It is not mandatory to implement it.

For information on standard tax codes, document types, tax procedures, and transaction keys for UAE VAT reporting, see: Value Added Tax.

The customizing for tax box structures has been broken down into four steps:

  1. Create Tax Box Structure
  2. Create Tax Groups: Tax groups enable you to classify transactions into different categories for reporting. You can create one or more tax groups for transactions to be reported in a tax box. Tax groups consist of the tax group number, the tax code, the valid-from and valid-to dates, the kinds of transactions to be reported, and the credit/debit marker.
  3. Create Tax Boxes: Tax boxes specify in which item of the tax return form the amount is posted.
  4. Assign Tax Groups to Tax Boxes: Assign tax groups to tax boxes to make sure that documents classified into defined tax groups are displayed into relevant tax boxes in the report output. You can assign one tax box to multiple tax groups.

For detailed guidance on creating tax box structures, tax groups, and tax boxes, and to know suggested tax groups and tax boxes, see: Configuration for VAT Declaration
