In this Customizing activity, you create hierarchy-level attributes, which will be displayed in hierarchy header area in Manage Global Hierarchies. This activity is optional.

You have defined the relevant hierarchy types.

To add hierarchy attribute for a hierarchy type, take the following steps:

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Select the hierarchy type.
  3. Specify an ID and a description of the attribute. Optionally, specify a short description of the attribute.
The long description will be displayed for input in hierarchy header area.
  1. If a hierarchy type has multiple attributes, specify UI display order of the attributes.
  2. You can also group multiple attributes so that they display together in a screen section. To do that, enter the group ID in the Hierarchy Attribute Group column.
Note: The group must first be created in the Hierarchy Attribute Grouppage, where you can also specify the group description and whether you want to hide the group from the UI of Manage Global Hierarchies. In case a hierarchy type has multiple attribute groups, you also need to specify UI display order of the groups.
  1. Select one of the following options as the attribute type:
  • Checkbox

  • Input Field

  • Single Selection from Fixed Values

  • Multiple Selection from Fixed Values

If you choose Single Selection from Fixed Values or Single Selection from Fixed Values, you must specify the values available for selection in the Hierarchy Attribute Valuesubpage.
  1. If you have selected Input Fieldin the previous step, you also need to specify the following:
  • Input Type: If single value or multiple values are allowed for the attribute.

Value Rangeis not supported as an input type in the current release.
  • Search Help Name, Search Help Field, and Search Help Text Field: Enter search help for the attribute values. If you leave them empty, free-text values are allowed for the attribute.

  1. Select Mandatory if value is required for the attribute.
  2. Select Ready-Onlyif the attribute value can't be changed by users in Manage Global Hierarchies. The attribute value can be filled in by implementing the BAdI BADI_FINS_UH_ADJUST_ATTR_VALS.
  3. Select Display on Creationif the attribute shall be displayed in the hierarchy creation dialog.
  4. Select Hidden if the attribute shall not be displayed on UI of Manage Global Hierarchies.
  5. Optionally, specify a default attribute value, which can be overwritten by users on UI.
Note: Default value is not applicable to attribute type Multiple Selection from Fixed Values.
  1. Select Version-Dependentif the attribute value is specific to hierarchy version, instead of being shared by all versions under a same hierarchy ID. The attribute will display in the Timeframe tab instead of the Hierarchy tab in Manage Global Hierarchies.
  2. Select Auto-Saveif any attribute value changes shall be saved automatically without an explicit save or activate action from users.
  3. Select Refresh Hierarchyif any attribute value changes shall refresh the hierarchy version that is being edited.
