In this Customizing activity, you make settings that enable you to use SAP Visual Business to display maps in SAP CRM on the WebClient UI.

Currently, map integration is supported in the following areas:

  • Service resource planning
You can show the location of resources, demands, and assignments on a map.
  • Account management
In the search result list, you can show the location of the accounts on a map.

You have installed the SAP Visual Business frontend software (version 2.0 or higher) on the client PC. You can find this software in the SAP Software Download Center on SAP Service Marketplace athttp://service.sap.com/swdc.

If you want to display the locations of accounts on a map in account management, you need to do the following:

  • Activate geocoding of account addresses (see SAP Note 613647 and related notes).
  • Register a geocoding program that determines the required geocoordinates.
You do this in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver, under General Settings -> Set Geocoding.

The SAP-delivered application GEOMAP_DEMO can only be used for demo purposes. To use this application, you must first obtain a license for the geocoding services and map products from the service provider (NAVTEQ).

You define and assign geocoding services *, map products, map layer stacks, and applications for SAP Visual Business.

* Note that the geocoding services are not used to display the locations of accounts on a map in account management. In this case, geocoordinates from the account address are used.

You can also find information about the settings for various map providers in the SAP Community Network at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-43251 .

If you want to use maps in your productive system, create your own SAP Visual Business application (for example, by copying the application GEOMAP_DEMO) and adapt the settings to meet your requirements. You can either use a free map service or obtain a license from a provider that charges for maps.

Settings in this activity are client-independent, and SAP and customer entries are separated by namespace reservations.
