VCH_LL_PACKAGE_SIZE - Report: Package Size Maintenance for MRP Live
BAL_S_LOG - Application Log: Log header data Addresses (Business Address Services)This documentation is copyright by SAP AG.
In terms of performance, variant configuration on SAP S/4HANA in general runs best when all required calculations are done in one step. However, if the given amounts of data are very large and the system size or currently available resources are insufficient, memory allocation issues can occur. To handle such issues, variant configuration on SAP S/4HANA supports package processing that optimizes your use of system resources. Package sizes for variant configuration on SAP S/4HANA can be maintained using the program VCH_PACKAGE_SIZE_MAINTENANCE.
The amount of data that is processed as part of variant configuration on SAP S/4HANA heavily depends on the given configuration model, so a detailed packaging solution is provided. Package sizes are defined as integer values greater than zero and can be maintained for either of the following:
·,,Simple selection conditions
Simple selection conditions are selection conditions that contain only Boolean operations. They do not use complex or variant table operations.
·,,Complex operations
Complex operations are selection conditions that use arithmetic expressions, object references, or procedures in general.
·,,Variant table operations
Variant table operations are selection conditions or procedures that use variant tables.
·,,Class nodes
Class nodes are bill of material (BOM) items defined by a class that is replaced by a matching material.
·,,BOM items
All bill of material (BOM) items
To achieve the best performance possible with the given hardware, it is recommended you select package sizes as large as possible.
The following default package sizes are applied in case no values are defined:
·,,Simple selection condition: 50,000,000
·,,Complex selection conditions: 50,000,000
·,,Variant table operations: 1,000,000
·,,Class nodes: 1,000,000,000
·,,BOM items: 2,100,000,000
If processes that use variant configuration on SAP S/4HANA, for example MRP Live, run into memory allocation issues (aka out of memory), you should reduce the package sizes. In case a suboptimal performance is observed during these processes, it is recommended you select larger package sizes for improving the runtime.
