SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you make settings for exporting bills of material (BOMs) and engineering change numbers (ECNs) in Product Data eXchange (PDX) packages in XML (Extended Markup Language) format in accordance with the DTD (Document Type Description) from the IPC-257x series standards for the electronic procurement chain.

You specify how cFolders attributes and XML attributes from the DTD are to be assigned to each other for the XML elements that are supported as part of the BOM and ECN import and export. For more information about the individual XML elements that cFolders supports, see the SAP Library for Design Collaboration with cFolders under cFolders Functions -> Import and Export of Product Data eXchange Packages -> PDX File Structure.

Once you have defined a profile and activated it, a corresponding menu option for the export in XML format appears on the detail screen of an active BOM or ECN in cFolders.

With the exception of the ReferenceDesignator element, you can define more attributes below the elements and specify their assignment to cFolders attributes. These additional attributes are included in the XML as AdditionalAttributes and AdditionalAttribute elements in accordance with the DTD.

The subdirectory MIMES of the BSP application CFX_RFC_UI in the ABAP Workbench object navigator contains the DTD of the cFolders material BOM and ECN in the cfx_pdx.dtd file. This DTD only contains the elements from the IPC-257x series standard that are supported as part of the export and import of the material BOM and ECN in cFolders.

  1. Specify the required profile for the Product Data eXchange export in accordance with IPC-2571. You can create as many profiles as you like and select the one you require in cFolders before the export. You define whether the profile is relevant for a BOM or an ECN in the Profile Type column.
  2. Create the required XML elements. Note the structure requirements from the DTD when you do this. The ProductDataeXchangePackage element is, for example, obligatory.
  3. Assign the required cFolders attributes to the standard attributes of the elements.
  4. You can create any number of groups for additional attributes below the XML element.
  5. You can define any number of additional attributes in the groups and specify how they are assigned to cFolders attributes.

Note:

Use the BAdI CFX_STRUCTURE_EXPORT to change and format the exported attribute values.
