VC_SXES_SRC_PROV - Define Search Service Providers and Object Types

In this IMG activity you can define search service providers (SSP) that perform the actual search and define their searchable object types.
You connect a SSP using the connector interface of the Meta Search Engine. Each SSP needs a class that implements this interface. In addition you can assign a category and a Web icon to the SSP. Therefore each object type coming from this SSP is initially assigned to this category and is displyed with this Web icon.
In the detailled view you can maintain the list of object types that the SSP delivers. You can fill an empty list or update an existing list automatically using the IMG activity Fill Object Type Lists. If you remove an object type from the list, the user cannot search specifically for objects of this type.
In addition you can adapt the following UI-relevant settings on object type level:
- Display name
- Sequence in dropdown list
- Category assignment
- Web icon in result list
For customSSP you need a connector class that implements the connector interface. The connector interface consists of the following parts:
The following SAP NetWeaver technologies are used as standard SSP types:
- Knowledge Management (KM) for files
- Business Intelligence (BI) for BI objects
- Fast Search Infrastructure (FSI) for business objects
Classes that implement the connector interface and initial lists of searchable object types are already available for these SSP.
