SAP E-Book

The SAP virus scan server is an executable program, which integrates virus scanners from certified vendors using an interface, and which provides scan services for the application servers of the system as a registered RFC server.

Tasks such as starting, stopping, and monitoring the virus scan server are controlled by the application server. The data required to do this is configured in this step.

You have created at least one scanner group.

SAP does not deliver any configuration data for virus scan servers.

Create an entry for each virus scan server that you want to set up.

We recommend that you set up at least one virus scan server on each application server for performance reasons. These are started, stopped, and monitored by the CCMS. If, for example, it determines that a configured virus scan server is not accessible, it triggers an alert, and the virus scan server is restarted as an auto-reaction.

You can also include virus scan server processes that are not started on an application server. Although these are then monitored by the CCMS, they are not automatically started or stopped.

Since these "self-starters" have their own monitoring class in the CCMS, you can define an auto-reaction method yourself, with which you can react to alert situations.

You can find the virus scan servers in the CCMS (transaction RZ20) in the "Virus Scan Servers" monitor of the "SAP CCMS Monitors for Optional Components" monitor set.
