In this Customizing activity, you determine the names of the RFC destinations relevant to your landscape. You need to do this, if you want to perform remote service generation using Service Implementation Workbench. That is the case, if your backend system is different from the Service Implementation Workbench host system.

Create a new entry and provide the Landscape ID, the RFC Destination (ES Rep.), the Main RFC Connection for Implementation, and the Alternative RFC Connection for Implementation.

You have configured a secure RFC connection to the respective backend system and deployed the required adapters. You have configured a main and an alternative RFC connection for implementation.

You have authorized the service implementation developer to work in all corresponding systems:

  • In the backend system where the code is generated,
  • In the Service Repository to which the service definition is written,
  • In the system that hosts Service Implementation Workbench. This can differ from the backend system.

After you have set up the system landscape, you can use the Check Landscapes report to check the RFC connections. You can find this report in the menu bar for the Service Implementation Workbench (SIW transaction) under Go To -> Check Landscapes.

Note: It is important that you use the same ES Repository system for the RFC connection that you use for your configuration and for the RFC connection that you use for the backend system specified in the SPROXY transaction.
