In this activity, you define warranty claim types and assign specific control parameters and default values to them.

The control parameters include:

  • Claim type usage
  • Processing status for supplier and customer
  • Start category for item type group

The default values include:

  • Partner role for customer and supplier
  • The accounting includes:
  • Document type for customer and supplier
  • Accounting procedure for customer and supplier

The values you define here are the values that appear in the F4 help for the warranty claim type in the Warranty Claim applications.

You must assign a warranty claim type to every warranty claim that is created manually or automatically. You cannot create warranty claims without a warranty claim type.

The claim type usage controls the processing of claims created using the Fiori applications and GUI applications (WTY).

* D: Fiori Display only for Customer: All customer claims created using the GUI applications (WTY) can be accessed using the Fiori applications (display only).

* F: Full Fiori Usage: Claims can be only processed using the Fiori applications. These claim types are not allowed in GUI application.

* S: Fiori Processing for Supplier: Supplier process can be initiated for all customer claims processed using the GUI application.

The control parameters control how warranty claims of a particular claim type are processed

The default values help you with your entries. The system copies them over to all warranty claims of a particular claim type, where you can overwrite them if necessary.

Note:

1. If you subsequently change the settings for a claim type in Customizing, it can result in inconsistent data, because the system does not compare existing claims automatically. For example, if you specify a different action control for a claim type and it no longer contains a specific processing status, all old claims that currently have this processing status are no longer processed.

2. GUI application related claim types can be configured accordingly to access and process the claims in Fiori applications.

The following warranty claim types are provided in the standard system:

  • IC01 Warranty claim type for the customer facing processes
  • IS01 Warranty claim types for supplier recovery processes
