Define the objects and object assignments required for a tax box reporting (including time-dependent tax codes), as defined by the relevant statutory authority.

Once a tax box structure type has been defined for a sales/ purchases tax reporting structure, you must then define and assign the external and system objects required to enable reporting.

Tax box structures can also be defined as time-dependent in order to reflect future reporting requirements. Time-dependent taxes allow you to temporarily adjust tax rates for a tax code, and define the tax rates for a validity period. When time-dependent tax calculation (TDT) is active, certain tax rates are effective within user-specified timeframes to allow you to adapt to current or planned changes to tax rates.

Note: Multiple time intervals can apply to the same tax box structure type. When first viewing the tax box structure types, the time intervals are collapsed. To check if time intervals apply, choose Expand-<->Collapseto view all existing intervals.

  • You have defined the tax box structure type (and description).
  • If time-dependent taxationis required, it must first be activated at country/ region level. Once activated, then time dependency can be specified at tax box level.
  • If additional fields are required to define tax groups, these fields must also be configured and implemented in the respective CDS views at country/ report level. The standard fields which are available for use to define tax groups, include:
  • Tax Code (MWSKZ) (mandatory)

  • Transaction Key (KTOSL) (optional)

  • Total Balance/Debit/Credit (SHKZG_UMSV) (optional)

  • Document Type (BLART) (optional)

  • Account Group (KTOKK) (optional)

A tax box structure typerepresents a sales/ purchases tax report, as defined by the relevant statutory authority.

A tax box structure consists of tax boxes. Tax boxes specify in which item of the tax return form the amount is posted.

A tax group, is an internal system representation of a tax box. Tax groups consist of the tax group number, the tax code, the valid-from and valid-to dates, the kinds of transactions to be reported, and the credit/debit marker. Ordinarily, the tax group number is the same as the tax box number. It’s important that you maintain the tax code and valid-from date for all tax rates in your tax groups.

For each tax box reporting structure, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose the required country/ region.
  2. Choose Define Tax Boxes (External)
  • Define the tax box details, including tax box output type (OT). Possible output types include tax base amount or tax amount, or a total of both amounts.

  1. Choose Define Tax Groups (Internal)
  • Create and save the tax groups.

  • Note: The tax group naming convention must be intact to generate a report. You must maintain the correct tax code and validity criteria for the corresponding tax groups to generate reports.

  1. Choose Assign Tax Group to Tax Box
  • Assign each tax box to a tax group.
