In this Customizing activity, you can map route categories to route types.

You map each route type to a route category depending on your business requirements, for example, depending on whether your route processing scenarios are paper-based or mobile. The route category determines if route data can be provided in form of printed documents or if it can be accessible on a mobile device.

At the same time, you can map route types to execution types. The execution type is relevant for route processing and is provided by Transportation Management (TM). You can either determine a default execution type value or define different execution types for your business partners in transaction BP. However, the Execution Type field is not mandatory.

By default, if no execution type is specified for your business partners, the execution type value is Default. In Customizing for Transportation Management, you can specify the default value for route processing.

You have made the relevant settings in the Customizing activity Define Route Types.
