In this Customizing activity, you define the storage locations for route stock either by plant or by plant group to be able to track inventory and activate generic batch handling.

A storage location is the location of products that are allocated to a route during route execution, for example, a vehicle on which products are loaded or the van from which products are sold (route stock in execution). In van sales replenishment processes, a storage location can also be a location where a van seller temporarily stores products, such as a storage container or a bin (route stock at location). In a van sales process, a storage location can also be a vehicle after check-in and before check-out (stock left on truck).

You can make the settings for plant groups in the following Customizing activities:

  1. Define storage locations for all plants that are relevant for route stock, in particular, for the plant groups to which plants are assigned.
  2. Activate generic batch handling and specify a generic batch for the storage locations by plant group and, if required, for by individual plant.
Note
Only one generic batch can be processed for a route. During batch handling, the system checks the assignment of delivery items for a route to plants. If items for the same route are assigned to plants and plant groups for which different generic batches are defined, the system cancels batch processing and route assembly stops.
Route assembly can only be triggered again after the settings in this Customizing activity have been adapted so that only one generic batch is specified for the route.

You can manage batches for all products to be handled in generic batches by using the Create Batch app or transaction MSC1n.
