This activity is only relevant if you are using functional areas for cost-of-sales accounting.

In SAP S/4HANA, the functional area is derived according to the same logic as in new GL (which was available in the former classic SAP ERP releases).

According to this logic the functional area is derived during postings already on the entry screen when the user chooses Enter and not only upon saving. From a technical point of view this means that the functional area is derived based on the content of the DDIC structure COBL (Coding Block) instead of ACCIT (Accounting Item).

Only in case you are not already using the new derivation logic (that is, when choosing Enter on the entry screen of postings) in the release from which you are now migrating, do the following:

• Check whether the functional area derivation works as desired during postings.

• Check whether you need to create a substitution for FI/0006 (application area Financial Accounting (FI), call-up point 0006). This applies only in case you were using the substitution FI/0005 in your former release: The old call-up point 0005 is not called anymore during postings. Instead the new call-up point 0006 is called.
