In this Customizing activity, you define the rules for calculating the start dates for payroll schedule steps, in the payroll schedule.

You have created a new step in the payroll schedule and you wish to create a new rule which will ensure that the step commences 8 days after pay date, a payroll date previously configured as August 1, 2010.

You create a rule name and enter a brief description for it. Then select pay date as the reference date, the operation as addition and enter a value of 8. The result is the creation of a start date for the new step of August 9, 2010.
