In this Customizing activity, you can define whether the number assignment is specific to the organizational model versions, or generic and valid for all organizational model versions. Whether the number assignment is specific or generic defines what kinds of subgroups (number intervals) you can use.

If you choose the specific number assignment (specific to the organizational model versions), you must create individual number intervals per organizational model version (and possibly also per object type). You must ensure that you do not use the identical number interval for different objects in different organizational model versions.

If you choose the generic number assignment (valid for all organizational model versions), you can create number intervals that are valid for all organizational model versions.

In the standard system, the number assignment is specific to the organizational models.

If you plan to transfer data from one organizational model version to the other, we recommend that you use the number assignment valid for all organizational model versions to avoid objects being overwritten.

  1. To activate the number assignment for all organizational model versions, enter an x into the Value abbr. field.
  2. To use the number assignment that is specific to the organizational model versions, leave the Value abbr. field empty.
