In this IMG activity, you assign a rule to the individual release steps of the release procedure for a specific release object. Processing is linked to the standard role (user, work center, organizational units, positions, for example). The system uses the rule to determine the responsible processing agent and transfers this via the SAP Business Workflow as a work item for further processing.

You have made settings for the relevant release object in the IMG activity Assign Release Object to Release Procedure.

  1. Select New Entries.
  2. Enter the required values in the following fields:
  • Release object

  • Release procedure

  • Release step

  1. Assign a standard role. You have the following two options:

The rule that you want to assign was already created and you know its number.

  1. Enter this number.

The rule that you want to assign has not yet been created.

  1. Select the corresponding line
  2. Choose Create Rule.
The system displays the selection screen for the rule parameters.
  1. Select the parameters required for defining the standard rules.
  2. Choose Generate Rule.
  3. Transfer the generated rule and save your data entries.

  1. If you want to assign a user or agent to the standard rule, you have the following options:
In this IMG activitiy:
  1. Select the corresponding line
  2. Choose Display Rule.
  3. Choose Continue.
  4. Choose Change.
The system displays the change screen for the rule.
For more information about changing rules, see the documentation for the SAP Business Workflow in the SAP Library. Choose SAP Business Workflow → Role Documentation or on the corresponding screens, choose Help → Application Help.
In the Area Menu:
  1. Choose Tools → ABAP Workbench → Development → Workflow → Definition Tools → Standard Roles → Change.
The system displays the change screen for standard roles.
For more information about changing standard roles, see the documentation for the SAP Business Workflow in the SAP Library. Choose Basis → Business Management → SAP Business Workflow → Role Documentation or on the corresponding screens, choose Help → Application Help.
  1. Save your entries.

Note: When defining rules, you need to make sure that the values have an "and"-link between the conditions.

You also need to note the relationship between the value 50000001 in the IMG activity Assign Release Object to Release Procedure, and the exact rule definition. You need to make sure that the system finds a user group for each release object using the rule. In other words, the rules need to be defined in such a way that they cover all reasons for release.
