In this Implementation Guide (IMG) activity, you determine which characteristics the system uses to select source segments and to distribute the values of those segments to one or more target segments.

  1. Choose New Entries and enter the following data:
  • Operating concern

  • Distribution

  • Source segment

  • Distribution: Enter a name for the distribution.

  • Segment: Enter a name for the source segment.

  1. In the next step (Select Source Characteristics), you determine which characteristics the system uses to select source segments and to distribute the values of those source segments to one or more target segments. Enter a field name (characteristic name) in each row. The system automatically adds the required fields PALEDGER, PLIKZ, and VRGAR. Enter a value in the Lower limit char.v. column for the Company Code (BUKRS) and Operating Concern(KOKRS) fields.
It is important to distinguish between the following:
  • Source characteristics for selection (from source segments)

  • Source characteristics for transfer (to target segments)

In the first case (source characteristics for selection), you must make entries in the Sign, Option, Lower limit char.v., and possibly the Upper limit char.v. fields. You can use the Sign field to select single values or value ranges, or to exclude single values or value ranges from the selection.
In the second case (source characteristics for transfer), you need to enter the field name only.
  1. In the next step (Define Target Characteristics), you determine the characteristic fields and possibly their contents (values) for the targets (receivers). Enter a field name in each row. The system automatically adds the required fields PALEDGER, PLIKZ, and VRGAR. You can change the entry in the Activity Type(VRGAR). If you do not change the entry, the system carries out the transfer from the source segment.
It is important to distinguish between the following:
  • One target characteristic/several target characteristics contain particular values.

  • One target characteristic/several target characteristics are transferred from the source.

In the first case, you enter the characteristic value in the Lower limit char.v. field and leave the VF/CTfield empty. (The system fills the Sign and Option fields automatically).
In the second case, just select Source in the VF/CT field (so that the system transfers the content from this source).
The differentiation indicator (DiffInd) gives you the option of distributing the content from one source (data record) to several target records. Select the appropriate differentiation indicator for each field name. If you leave the field blank, no differentiation is used. This means that the system transfers source records to target records 1:1. If you enter the character *, the system transfers the field value to every target record.
  1. Select Value Field Assignment to enter sender field names and target field names for value fields (amounts). You can enter different names in the same row. The system then writes the source value to a different target field.
You can change the plus or minus sign in the +/- Sign column. In the Sender %column, you specify what proportion of the source value is to be transferred to the target field. The default is 100%.
The differentiation indicator has the same meaning here as in the definition of the target characteristics.
  1. Save your entries.
