Use this activity to define the start of the week. The system uses the start of week and the daybreaker definitions to define when the scheduling week begins for a location.

You have completed the activity Define Daybreaker.

You can change the start of week definition for a location. However, the effective date for the new start of week should occur on the same day of the week on which the new business week starts. For example, if the current date is Monday, March 1, and your current start of week definition is set to Saturday, to change the start of week definition from Saturday to Sunday, you should define the effective start date for the change as of Sunday, March 7.

  1. Choose New Entriesto define a new start of week definition, or select an existing profile to maintain its values.
  2. For a new entry, enter the Weekbreaker ID.
  3. Enter the validity start and end dates. Use the end date 12/31/9999 for an open-ended validity range.
  4. Enter the short description the system uses for display purposes.
  5. Choose the day you want the system to use as the first day of the business week from field help.
  6. Optionally, enter a long description.
  7. Save your entries.

If your daybreaker is 04:00 (4:00am) and the first day of your week is Sunday, then each business day starts at 04:00, and your business week starts at 04:00 Sunday morning. The consequence is that a shift could span multiple calendar days without spanning multiple days in the schedule period.
