Corporate managers can submit forecast, schedule, earned hours, and schedule exception calculation requests to the system for calculation processing. Corporate managers make their requests through calculation batches which are typically launched using standard background processing. Use this activity to define calculation batches .

Schedules/Forecasts

Location managers must complete all of their forecast entries and temporary changes for the schedule week prior to running the background calculation processing request so that their information is reflected in the calculation processing.

  • For Forecast calculation requests, ensure all location managers have entered any special history and manual forecasts, volume data for indicators which are either not calculated historically (advance shipping notices, for example) or not available to be imported (manually computed traffic, for example) prior to scheduling the batch forecast request.
  • For Schedule calculation requests, ensure a forecast has been generated for the week of the schedule week calculation.

Schedule Exceptions/Earned Hours

  • For Schedule Exceptions, you would request this batch process prior to your location managers editing punch data.
  • For Earned Hour requests, ensure all punch data has been received and all punch edits have been made prior to scheduling the batch earned hours request.

You can view calculation batches that have not as yet been submitted to the system for processing to ensure that they have been accepted through the manager's portal by choosing WFM Administration -> WFM Calculation Services -> Administrator Maintenance -> Batch Requests tab.

  1. Choose New Entries to define a new work area definition profile, or select an existing profile to maintain its values.
  2. For new entries, enter the External Key.
  3. Enter the short description the system uses for display purposes.
  4. Optionally, enter a long description.
  5. Enter the validity start and end dates. Use the end date 12/31/9999 for an open-ended validity range. To ensure schedule weeks are defined correctly, the Start Date must be the first day of the week as defined by the week breaker.
  6. Define the Calculation Type by choosing it from field help. A batch can only be for one calculation type.
  7. Define the Weeks to Offset. Starting from the current week, this defines the week for which the calculation will be generated. An offset of 1 means 1 week in the future (that is, next week). For example, if the batch is run on Wed 10/1/06, and the offset in this field is 1, the calculation is generated for the week of 10/5/06 (the next week based on the week breaker, the starting day of the week).
  8. Define the locations you want to include in this calculation batches definition.
    1. In the Available Locations list, scroll to and choose the locations you want to add to this calculation batch.
    2. Click Assignand you see the location in the Assigned Locationslist.
Repeat these steps as required. Remove a location from the Assignedlist choosing it and clicking Unassign.
  1. Save your entries.
