Demand templates allow you to select a workload based on the weekly value of a business or volume driver, rather than generating it. Once you have defined a demand template you configure the demand template to generate workload for a summed business driver. You use this activity to define demand templates. After you have created demand templates you assign them from the mandatory task configuration activity. Demand templates are typically used for big-ticket items with a small volume.

You can also use this activity to define service quality templates which ensure that forecasts for tasks represent specific service level goals as they are created prior to creating a forecast and linked to the tasks. Service quality templates support interaction centers and are not typically used within the retail environment.

  1. Choose New Entries to define a demand template definition profile, or select an existing profile to maintain its values.
  2. For new entries, enter the External Key.
  3. Enter the validity start and end dates. Use the end date 12/31/9999 for an open-ended validity range.
  4. Enter the short description the system uses for display purposes.
  5. Optionally, enter a long description.
  6. At Indicator Type, choose Step Demand Template from field help. The other indicator type choices are typically not used in the retail environment.
  7. From field help, choose the day for the demand template entries. Choose Insert Line to define additional demand requirements for the same day.
  8. Enter the demand template start and end times.
When entering the Start Time and End Time, either enter the times directly into the field or choose field help to scroll to the times in the Choose Timedialog box. In the Choose Time dialog box, choose the clock icon to switch your entries between 12-hour format (using amand pm) and 24-hour format. The system displays times only in 24-hour format. You must enter times in multiples of 15 minutes. You enter midnight as 00:00 not 24:00.
  1. Enter the number of resources to be applied to the workload at the Valuefield.
  2. Save your entries.

When shopping for an updated kitchen, customers typically make several visits to the store for consultations before making their purchase. The number of visits by the kitchen customer and the length of time of each visit will vary from customer to customer, visit to visit. These unknown elements do not provide enough good information from which to generate a workload. By using a demand template, you can smooth your workload requirements and set the employees necessary for the work area as part of a mandatory task.
