You can have WFM automatically send calculation alerts when it:

  • Receives a calculation request
  • Encounters one or more errors during calculation processing
  • Successfully completes calculation processing

Use this activity to define alert profiles containing the types of alerts to be sent and the roles to which the alerts are to be sent.

You have defined roles for your WFM implementation and assigned employees to the roles through standard business partner processing.

You use standard SAP Alert Management to control alerts within WFM.

  • You access the alert configuration activities at: SAP IMG --> SAP NetWeaver --> Application Server --> Basis Services --> Generic Business Tools --> Alert Management.
  • You access information on Alert Management within the SAP Help Portal at: NetWeaver 2004s --> SAP Library --> SAP NetWeaver Library --> SAP NetWeaver by Key Capability --> Application Platform by Key Capability --> Business Services --> Business Communication Services --> Alert Management.

  1. Choose New Entries to define a new calculation alert profile, or choose an existing profile to maintain its values.
  2. For new entries, enter the Alert Profile ID.
  3. Use field help to select a role to be mapped to this alert profile. Users assigned to this role within the organization hierarchy will receive the defined alerts. This user has authority to submit calculation requests either using portal access or through batch processing.
  4. Select the Error Alerts indicator if you want to inform users assigned to this role of errors encountered during calculation processing.
  5. Select the Success indicator if you want to inform users assigned to this role that their calculation processing completed successfully.
  6. Enter the short description the system uses for display purposes.
  7. Optionally, enter a long description.
  8. Save your entries.
You can optionally include other managers or include the submitted indicator for the previous role through the Alert Manager Configuration profile.
  1. Choose an Alert Profile Configuration.
  2. Double-click Alert Manager Configuration.
  3. Choose New Entries to define a new alert manager profile, or choose an existing profile to maintain its values.
  4. Use field help to select a role to be mapped to this alert manager profile. Users assigned to this role within the organization hierarchy will receive the defined alerts.
  5. Select the Submit Alerts indicator if you want to inform users assigned to this role that WFM has received a calculation request.
  6. Select the Error Alerts indicator if you want to inform users assigned to this role of errors encountered during calculation processing.
  7. Select the Success indicator if you want to inform users assigned to this role that calculation processing has completed successfully.
  8. Save your entries.
