Use this activity to define non-transition zones. Non-transition zones are periods during the business day when shifts cannot start or end. Shifts can be scheduled over non-transition zones; however, they cannot start or end as defined by this activity.

  1. Choose New Entries to define a non-transition zone definition profile, or select an existing profile to maintain its values.
  2. For new entries, enter the Transition Zone ID.
  3. Enter the validity start and end dates. Use the end date 12/31/9999 for an open-ended validity range.
  4. Enter the short description the system uses for display purposes.
  5. Enter the start and end times for the non-transition zone. This defines the time during the day when the specific definitions for shift start and stop apply.
When entering the Start Time and End Time, either enter the times directly into the field or choose field help to scroll to the times in the Choose Time dialog box. In the Choose Timedialog box, choose the clock icon to switch your entries between 12-hour format (using amand pm) and 24-hour format. The system displays times only in 24-hour format. You must enter times in multiples of 15 minutes. You enter midnight as 00:00 not 24:00.
  1. Select the indicators for the days during the schedule week to which this non-transition zone definition applies. You can have the same definition for more than one day.
  2. Select the Shift Start indicator if shifts cannot start during this non-transition zone.
  3. Select the Shift End indicator if shifts cannot end during this non-transition zone.
  4. Select the No Quarter Hour indicator if the system cannot create a shift that begins or ends 15 minutes before or after the hour; for example 9:45 and 10:15.
  5. Select the No Half Hourindicator if the system cannot create a shift that begins on the half-hour; for example 10:30.
  6. Optionally, enter a long description.
  7. Save your entries.
