In this IMG activity, you can define special day parts that support scheduling requirements and work rules for special day parts.

  1. Determine what special day parts are required in scheduling, for example, opening shift, closing shift, night shift, and the periods when these day parts are valid.
  2. Define the attributes of different special day parts:
    1. Define the times for each day of the week either by entering a start time and an end time or by using relative times with offsets, for example, Open -60 minutes to 10:00.
    2. Enter the number of hours for which employees must work in order for the shift to qualify as a special day part shift.
    3. Define the maximum number of hours for the shift length.
    4. Define the number of hours that an employee must have off between scheduled shifts.
  3. Return to the intial screen and assign the special day parts to one of the special day part rules (1-6).

Note

In the IMG activity Define General Work Rule Settings, you enable the special day part rules you want the manager's portal to display

In the IMG activity Define Default Work Rules, you enable the work rules that you mapped to the special day parts.

At a particular location, the hours worked between 21:00 and 06:00 represent night hours or a night shift. Employees who work night shifts receive special pay, and special scheduling rules apply. You define that employees who work on night shifts must work a minimum of five hours, must not work more than eight hours, and can work only a specified number of night shifts over a specified period of time.
