WFA_WARELUCTANCE - Define Work Area Reluctance Profiles

In this activity, you define work area reluctance profiles. Cross-trained employees can be assigned to multiple work areas. The system uses reluctance profiles to determine what work area should have shifts assigned for a particular employee when there is a choice and other schedule inputs (such as forecast demand) are equal. The entries you make in this activity help the system direct work area assignments.

This activity is not required in implementations where employees have only a single work area assignment.

Managers assign a reluctance profile to each employee with multiple work area assignments by choosing WFM -→ Employees -→ Work Areas and Qualifications.

1. Choose New Entries to define a new work area reluctance profile definition profile, or select an existing profile to maintain its values.
2. For new entries, enter the Work Rule Reluctance Profile ID.
3. Enter the short description the system uses for display purposes.
4. Optionally, enter a long description.
5. Choose the work area reluctance definition and double-click Individual Reluctance Profile.
6. Choose New Entriesto define new individual reluctance profiles or choose an existing profile to maintain its values.
7. Enter the work area rank. This represents the work area's rank within all work areas for the employee. The work area ranks must be in numerical order, starting at 1.
8. Enter the validity start and end dates. Use the end date 12/31/9999 for an open-ended validity range.
9. Enter the work area cost; a numeric value that defines the schedule importance for a work area. You use work area rank costs to define the importance for each work area. The system references the work area costs when it generates a schedule. The higher the cost, the least important the work area for scheduling. Use the same value when there is no difference in importance between two or more work areas.
10. Save your entries.
