In this IMG Activity you determine which dispatcher you are going to use. You can use either the liveCache dispatcher or the built-In dispatcher. The liveCache dispatcher is a memory-based database which includes mulitple scheduling algorithms. The built-In dispatcher uses conventional techniques for data storage, and includes only one scheduling algorithm.

If you are using the liveCache dispatcher, you must be sure that liveCache is installed and running.

Depending on the data in the system, switching from the liveCache dispatcher to the built-In dispatcher might not be possible. For example, if you have defined resources with capacitive availability information, you cannot switch from the liveCache dispatcher to the built-In dispatcher.

You must select the liveCache dispatcher if either of the following conditions is true for your implementation:

  • You are using the Resource Planning Application (RPA) to schedule project-based demands.
  • You wish to use external service providers with capacity type overallor equally distributedin the RPA.

Select the dispatcher you wish to use.

Switching from one dispatcher to another is a two step process:

1. Use this activity and save your new setting.

2. Transfer the data which has been stored in one dispatcher to the other dispatcher. To transfer the data, run the program /SAPAPO/TOGGLE_DISPATCHER_LRP. This program must also run in the systems in which this setting was transported.
