SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you define the dates required to calculate deadlines. These dates are required when creating or changing a transportation chain or dateline.

The system uses two types of dates:

  • Operational dates (date category: Obligatory)
These define the procurement process on a time basis. If one of these dates is postponed, all other operational dates (provided they have not already been posted as actual dates) are also postponed.
You can flag operational dates as possible transfer dates. Dates flagged in this way can then be selected in the Customizing activity Assign Transfer Dates to Incoterms.
  • Informative dates (date category: Optional)
If necessary, you can schedule and monitor these in addition to operational dates. This is, however, purely optional. Postponing informative dates has no effect on other dates.

Deadline monitoring

If you set this indicator, the date is monitored in SAP Event Management. When a transportation chain is created, the system automatically sets the indicator in the Deadline Monitoring field.

Vendor relevance

If you set this indicator, the system transfers the following details of the schedule line maintained in the purchase order to the vendor:

  • planned date
  • departure country/region and city
  • arrival country/region and city
  • transportation mode

We provide definitions of dates and deadlines.
