W_CS_003 - Define Search Parameters for Material Search

You use this Customizing activity to customize the material search and result displays.

The Material Search function for existing materials is performed using TREX or search engine service (SES). You must configure the SES Material Master Business Object BUS1001006 before you can successfully configure and test functions within Material Search.

Material Search and Catalog Search use the same display layout. For ease of use, values for some input fields are ignored if that search attribute is not supported by the business object.

• Select an application name for which you want to maintain Material Search settings, then select search parameters to define the search input fields that appear on the user interface and the order in which the fields are displayed.

• You can set fields to appear on either the primary or secondary part of the search criteria. You can place frequently-used search attributes at the top of the standard search section, and assign rarely-used search attributes to the secondary search section.

• Delete or set the data element display option to Not used to remove or hide search parameters from the user interface, making them unavailable for searches. Note that some search fields, such as Free Text Search, Fuzzy Search and Plant Filter and Availability, are fixed and can neither be hidden nor moved.
