The Internet application component "Product catalog", together with the Internet transaction server, permits access to product catalog data via a web browser.

In this section, you make settings that define how file names for image and sound documents used in the Internet application component are determined.

  • Data carrier type:
Image and sound documents must be created as documents in the Document Management System.
For each document, you can refer to one or two files. The files are defined by the two entries "Data carrier" and "Original".
To determine the access path, the mount point/log. drive for the data carrier is linked to the entry under Original.
To enable this, the system must know which mount point/log. drive is used to access the data carrier. The mount point/log. drive depends on the data carrier type of the computer from which access is to be achieved.
In the "Data carrier type of the web server" field, enter the data carrier type that is to be used to determine the mount point of your HTTP server.
Also ensure that the mount point/log. drive is maintained in the General data section of the Document Management System for this data carrier type and for the data carrier that you use when entering the files.

    Example:
From your HTTP server, you can access the iamge and sound files in the directory "/sap/its/pictures/WW10+WW20". This directoy contains the image file "hardware.gif".
This file is referenced in a document via the values "Data carrier"="DOCSERV" and "Original"="hardware.gif".
You enter type "WS" as the data carrier type of the web server, and ensure that mount point/log. drive "/sap/its/pictures/WW10+WW20/" exists for data carrier type "WS" and data carrier "DOCSERV".

    Note:
In Document Management, you do not have to enter a data carrier for files. However, in this case, the complete access path (from the point of view of the HTTP server) must be entered in the field "Original".
  • WA large image / WA small image / WA sound file:
In Internet scenarios, the following multimedia objects can be taken into consideration for each shop and material: a large image, a small image and a sound file.
In order for the system to be able to determine which file is used for for which function (large image, small image or sound file), the workstation application (WA) of Document Management is interpreted.
In the fields WA large image, WA small image and WA sound file, you enter which WA is used for which function. The WAs must be created in the General data section of the Document Management System.

The following settings are provided in the standard system:

WS Data carrier type WS Web server
WA Large image LIM Large image
WA Small image SIM Small image
WA Sound file SND Sound

You can adopt the standard settings or enter other values. In both cases, you must ensure that the data carrier types and workstation applications used are maintained in the General data section.

There is no transport connection!
