In this Customizing activity you can activate the barcode entry.

You must execute this activity if you want to use an entry scenario with integrated bar code technology. You can activate the bar code entry per business object type.

When storing a document during active operation, the system checks whether the bar code entry is activated for the associated business object type. If this is the case, a dialog box appears, in which you must enter the bar code value.

Select the object type for which you want to activate the entry with bar code.

If you want to enter an additional object type, choose New Entries and enter the required object type.

You can specify the following restrictions for the activation of the bar code entry:

  • Document Type
Bar code entry activated only for the document type entered here.
  • User
Bar code entry activated only for the user entered here.

Note that the entry with the more detailed settings always takes precedence.
For example, an entry specifying the object type and the user takes precedence over an entry specifying only the object type.

The following settings options for the bar code entry are additionally available in this Customizing activity:

  • BCode Type
Here you can enter a bar code type, in order to enable checking the bar code value entered (see also Check is active).
SAP supplies bar code types with the standard system.
For further information on bar code types, see the documentation for Customizing activity Register Bar Code Types.
  • Bar code active (default setting)
Select this check box to active the bar code entry.
  • Check is active
By selecting this check box, you can activate a check for the relevant bar code type. Due to the risk of typing errors, this setting is particularly recommended if you want to enter the bar code manually.

    Example:
    Object Type: BKPF
    Barcode type: CODE_2_5_I
    Bar code entry active
    Bar code check active

The system checks whether the numeric value, entered as a bar code of object type BKPF by the user, corresponds to the indicated bar code type "Interleafed". If the entered bar code does not correspond to the bar code type, the system displays an appropriate message.
  • No cancel
By selecting this check box, you can prevent the user from terminating the bar code entry, and force him to enter a bar code value.
  • Multiple entry
Select this check box to allow a bar code value to appear more than once in the table of open bar codes. This is useful, for example, if the incoming document belongs to multiple business objects.
  • Hold R/3 entry
By selecting this check box, you can prevent bar code values entered in the table of open internal bar codes in the SAP system from being deleted following a successful comparison. This means that you can assign the bar code value more than once.
  • Hold externally
By selecting this check box, you can prevent bar code values, that were entered in the table of open external bar codes by the scan software, from being deleted following a successful comparison. This means that you can assign the bar code value more than once.
  • Popup in Workflow
This check box is relevant only if you have entered a document type for which an entry scenario using SAP Business Workflow is active.
By selecting this check box, you can activate the bar code entry dialog box for the specified document type, although an entry scenario using SAP Business Workflow is active. Otherwise, no bar code is used in Workflow scenarios, as linking the application document and the document is carried out automatically.
