In this step you can assign a sequence to the characteristics which are used to define variants for a generic material.

This is important for two reasons; firstly for RIS, so that key figures can be updated to the correct characteristics. Secondly, the variants of a generic material are always represented in the same way, namely that, for generic articles with the variant characteristics Size and Color, Size is always on the X axis and Color on the Y axis.

The material groups "Shirts" and "Sweaters" have the following variant characteristics:

  • Material group "Shirts" :,,Collar size,,,Color
  • Material group "Sweaters":,,,,Size,,,,,Color

The sequence of the characteristics can now be maintained as follows:

  • Size,,,,1
  • Collar size,,2
  • Color,,,,3

Here, you can determine that key figures are updated separately in RIS according to the characteristic values of the characteristics Size, Collar Size and Color.

At the same time, the defined sequence for determining the x and y axes is taken into account in representing the variants of a generic material in matrix form. In this example, the characteristic Color is always displayed on the y axis, as it has the second highest number in the sequence in both material groups.

The characteristics to which you wish to assign a sequence must already have been created in the classification system.

Assign each characteristic a number between 1 and 999. Each number may only be assigned once.

Key figures can only be updated and evaluated by characteristic values to those characteristics that have been assigned a number in the sequence.
