In this step you control how structured materials are split into their components in logistics processes.

When you make this setting for specific categories of a structured material, you define the logistics processes in which they are broken down and also the levels at which this occurs.

This data is included in the purchase order for information purposes only.
If the structured material is broken down at goods receipt, then from this stage onwards stock will be managed for each component individually and the header material will no longer have any stock.

You can define that structured materials are broken down at the following levels: store/DC, distribution chain, plant and structured material.

An example of a logistics process in this context is a store placing an order with a distribution center.
Here the structure of a display is broken down into its components.

If you use the settings provided in the standard system, prepacks, displays and sales sets are split in the store at the point of ordering (purchase order) and at goods receipt.

Please use the standard settings wherever possible and only make your own entries in exceptional circumstances.

In the standard system, structured materials are broken down in purchase orders and at goods receipt.

If this setting reflects the "typical" processes in your company, only make your own entries in cases where structured materials cannot be processed using the standard settings.

You can only break down structured materials that were created in Integrated Material Maintenance with the appropriate material category.

You assign components to their header material in a supplementary maintenance screen, which appears if you choose Material -> Bill of material in the application menu.
