Assortment grade rules describe the relationships between the various assortment grades.
Assortment grades 1 Smallest assortment/core assortment
2 Extended core assortment
3 Extended assortment
4 Special assortment (managed only in the
largest plants)
Assortment grade rules 4 = 1 & 2 & 3 & 4
3 = 1 & 2 & 3
2 = 1 & 2
1 = 1
Each grade automatically includes any grades of a smaller denomination.
Assortment grade rule entries are grouped together to form a "listing algorithm". At present only one
algorithm (01) is available in the standard SAP system, but at a later point the user will be able to define further algorithms.
Example:
Algorithm 01 = 4 = 1 & 2 & 3 & 4
3 = 1 & 2 & 3
2 = 1 & 2
1 = 1
Algorithm 02 = J = J & G & H & I
I = I & G & H
H = G & H
G = G
Before assortment grade rules can be used, you must maintain assortment grades and listing algorithms.
Assortment grade rules for assortment grades 1...4 and the assortment grade rule "blank" are available in the SAP standard system. The latter involves all the assortment grades (see assortment grade rule 4 in the example).
At present SAP only ships algorithm 01.
A result assortment grade should not be located directly within any of the assortment grades subordinate to it as this will lead to a loop where the result assortment grade refers back to itself infinitely.
Define assortment grade rules.
At present no more than 20 assortment grades can be contained in an assignment rule.
