Use this configuration activity to define price point groups and assign price point ranges to them.

Price points are used in sales price calculations as proposals for persuasive sales prices. Price points are created with the aid of price point ranges.

All price points in a price point range are generated on the basis of the first price point. The interval (increment) is repeatedly added to the first price point until the last price point is calculated.

The price point group controls which price points are used in sales price calculations and how prices are rounded off within the price point group.

Typical price points are the ninety-nine prices (such as 6.99, 7.99, 8.99, 9.99). To enter these prices, create the following price point range:

  • First price point 6.99
  • Last price point 9.99
  • Increment 1

You must have authorization to use the sales price calculation function.

Do not enter each price point separately. Instead, make comprehensive use of the price point range functionality.

Do not create too many price point groups. Instead, take advantage of the option of assigning a price point group to various combinations of distribution chains and merchandise category, as described in the configuration activities Assign Price Point Group to Organization Leveland Assign Price Point Group to Organization Level/Merchandise Category.

The percentage entered in the "Rounding" field determines how prices in the interval between two neighboring price points are rounded off. The figure you enter is the percentage of the difference between the two price points. If you enter 50%, the price is rounded off; if you enter 0%, the price is rounded down to the lower price point; if you enter 100%, the price is rounded up to the next interval.

The following example entry is available in the standard system:

Price point group Description Currency Rounding
000001 E.g. price point group DEM

with the following price point ranges:
First price Last price Increment

0.11 0.00 0.00
0.12 0.00 0.00
0.19 0.99 0.05
1.09 9.99 0.10
10.00 999999.99 0.01

If you only enter the first price point, this is the only price point in this price point range.
