In this activity you determine the mass activities for which you wish to carry out parallel processing using Framework for Parallel Processing.

For each mass activity you first have to create a screen and a function module for the subsequent interval distribution. See function group FPP_SAMPLE for an example.

We recommend using Framework for Parallel Processing only for the processes that are delivered by SAP.

Here is a brief description of the dialog structure:

Mass Activities

  • Application: ,,Name of application for which parallel processing is to be used
  • Mass Activity: ,,Process to be subject to parallel processing
  • Name of Mass Activity: ,,Description of the mass activity
  • Function Modules: You can specify up to five function modules that will be called at different times by Framework for Parallel Processing. The only mandatory function module is the interval module. The others are optional and are either called before or after the interval module or the entire parallel process.
  • Input for Generated Interfaces:
  • Here you define a structure that displays any number of fields on its own tab page when a parallel process is created and scheduled. The fields that are displayed must be assigned to a frame and executed accordingly.

  • Input for Freely Defined Interfaces
  • Here you define attributes for up to three tab pages that are displayed when you create and schedule a parallel process.

  • Enter the program names (or the name of the function group in which the screen is located), the screen number and the name of the tab title.

  • Structure for Custom Selection:
  • Here you define a structure that is displayed on its own tab page and that can be used for free selections.

  • Settings for Application Log:
  • Here you make settings for the log. You can enter details on the log object/subobject and the way in which the log is called for parallel processing.

  • Objects Permitted for Parallel Processing:
  • Here you restrict the objects that are permitted for parallel processing. When you subsequently create or schedule parallel processing, you only have to select from the list of valid parallel processing objects.

  • Run Control:
  • Here you specify the number of automatic repeats of runs, or in the event of a termination or error, of the whole run or individual intervals. You can also specify if parallel processing can be run in simulation mode and if it is possible to specify a parallel processing object.

  • Counter:
  • Here you specify individual counters. These can operate within the interval module and may be adjusted accordingly.

Function group FPP_SAMPLE and corresponding Customizing entries with the mass activity FPP_SAMPLE.
