Define the derivation rules that the derivation tool uses to determine the relevant collection agency.

The derivation tool is always called by using BAdI implementation FI-CA: Submit Receivables to Collection Agency: Derive Collection Agency in the business context Contract Accounting: Collection Agency when an item is released by using the Release Item for Collection app or Release for Collection app.

The derivation tool determines the relevant collection agency in one or more derivation steps from a sequence of source fields of the enhanceable structure FKKCOLLAG. The following derivation steps are possible:

  • Derivation Rule
  • Table Access
  • Assignment
  • Initialization

The source fields originate from the business partner’s master data and address data, and the data of the open items to be submitted. You can use the collection agency and two temporary interim results as target fields. Here, you can assign values from a first derivation step to source fields of a subsequent derivation step.

In addition to the definition of the derivation steps, you can also use this activity to test the derivation strategy defined. To do this, call up function F8 Test.

You cannot use amount fields as source fields for a derivation rule. To implement amount-dependent rules, in your derivation rules, define a condition that references to the amount field.

The length of all source fields for a derivation rule must not exceed 127 characters. You should therefore only use text fields such as city or street in special cases. Alternatively, you can use a multi-level derivation rule where you use a temporary interim result.

You have maintained collection agencies in the activity Define Collection Agency.

In a first derivation step, restrict the number of collection agencies available for selection using the address data of the business partner (for example, postal code), and save this information in a temporary interim result.

In a second derivation step, use this temporary interim result and the amount of the receivable (for example, amount > 1000) to determine the relevant collection agency.

A two-level procedure has the advantage that the characteristics for determining the receivable type and the address data of the business partner are not included as multiplier (m*n) but as additive (m+n) this minimizes the maintenance required for the derivation rules. relevant collection agency.
