In Customizing for Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable, under: Program Enhancements -> Prepared Enhancements -> Add Fields for Subsequent Account Assignment, you can add the use of business area, profit center, or segment for business partner items in day-to-day operations. If you subsequently add the fields mentioned above, you can enrich totals records without account assignment with dummy account assignments in event 0945 before transfer to the general ledger. Totals records without account assignment result primarily from the clearing of older business partner items that are still without account assignment.

The system takes the dummy account assignments into account not only during transfer to the general ledger, but also for valuations on a key date as part of closing operations, such as the valuation of open items for a key date and the foreign currency valuation.

In this step, you specify the company code for which you want to add a new account assignment.

In the Date From field, you specify the posting date or due date as of which the subsequent account assignments are to be taken into account. For valuations on a key date, the system determines the account assignment directly from the subsequent account assignment fields in the business partner items. If the system cannot determine any account assignment from the subsequent account assignment fields, the dummy account assignment determined at Event 0945 is used.

For adjustment postings as part of closing operations (on the SAP Easy Access screen under Periodic Processing -> Closing Preparation -> Adjustments for Subsequent Account Assignment), the system takes into account the adjustment accounts entered in this activity.
