Define the value derivation for the characteristics of an operating concern.

The derivation is made at the time of the transfer of the transfer records for order items to revenue accounting.

The result object for the performance obligation is determined from the characteristics in revenue accounting.

In the standard delivery, the following characteristics are transferred from the transfer records:

• Company code

• Business area

• Distribution channel

• Division

• Profit center

• Segment

• Sales organization

• Order number

• WBS element

If the indicator for the account assignment of individual contracts in the contract item for which the transfer record was created is set, the contract number and contract item, as well as the article number in the CO-PA characteristic fields are also filled.

Assign origin fields to the characteristics of the profitability analysis for an operating concern. That means you assign fields from the transfer records to revenue accounting or alternatively you assign a function module that determines the origin field.

If you do not want to transfer fields such as the segment that is transferred by default, enter the field as a characteristic and leave the origin field empty. By doing this, the field is initialized in the CO-PA data during the transfer to revenue accounting.

Note
The higher the number of characteristics used, the finer the differentiation of the data in CO-PA (margin analysis). This results in the following:

• The memory requirement increases.

• The number of database accesses to CO-PA tables increases.

• The runtime of the CO-PA evaluation programs increases.
